Is benzyl alcohol dangerous in hair care and skin care products?

A lot of cosmetic products seem to have benzyl alcohol in their ingredients. Is this a bad thing?Is benzyl alcohol dangerous in hair care and skin care products?
benzyl is not bad. it's probably not a good idea to eat it, but the worst thing it does to me is dry out my skin. i have this acne cream that has benzyl in it and if i use it too much i get really dry, but it works otherwise.Is benzyl alcohol dangerous in hair care and skin care products?
Benzoyl peroxide is a common ingredient in over-the-counter acne medications. If you look carefully at product labels you'll notice that benzoyl peroxide is in many spot treatments (like Persagel-10, which is 10% benzoyl peroxide) and salicyclic acid is in alot of face washes. The reason is that benzoyl peroxide has been shown to speed up the aging process of skin, so you should never apply it as a thin layer all over your face. Instead, if you want to use a benzoyl product to clear up pimples, put it *directly on the pimple itself*. Don't do anything like apply it all over your face so that you ';wont wake up with any new pimples.';
no its actually a good thing

it cleans out pores
